Hindu School Scout:
Hindu School is one of the oldest Government School in West Bengal and Scouting in the school was started in 1923.

The records of the group was written in the letter of gold during the course of last 65 years, and embellished with innumerable awards and prizes a defailed list of which unfortunately is not available on record. A few of them may only be illustrated as follows :-

Our group was the only group in the undivided Bengal to have won the All India Jardine Challenge Shield.

The group won the All Bengal Ronaldshay Shield for First-aid, run by St. John’s Ambulance Association, in 1926 & 1927.

The group also won the National Ross Cup, an all Bengal Competition in Scouting.

In the year 1943, the group won Anderson Shield for First-aid.

In the year 1945, the group created history by annexing on behalf of the 2nd Calcutta Boy Scouts Association for the first time the All Bengal Jackson Shield, regarded as the ‘Blue Riband’ for Scouting in Bengal and thus fulfilled one of its long Cherished desires.

The successes continued when the Group won the Jackson and the Anderson Shields for 5 and 6 consecutive years respectively. This was undoubtedly by any standard, an excellent and performance on its parts and as a consequence, the group was awarded the Miniature Jackson Shield in the year 1953.

The glorious heights of success during the 40’s and 50’s were attained by the group under the able guidance and leadership of Lt. Col. P. C. Mitter, the then group leader scout, who was associated with the group for more than 35 years.

The Days are passing by and our group is marching forward further more in 80’s under the able leadership of present scouters. Starting from 1981 and till now our group has won all kind of shield in State Scout Championship. Namely, N. N. Bhose Trophy, Baren Bose Trophy, D. N. Basu Shield, J. N. Basu Shield, Commenmoration Trophy, Satta Bose Trophy.

It is pride to node that Group marching forward further more in 80's under leadership of sagar Sen, Scout Master. Our Scout Group own N.N. Bhose State Championship trophy for the last two successive years in the year 1982 and 1983 along with other trophies; Namely;

2. Baren Bose Trophy Highest Point in Message & Signaling 1981, 1982, 1983
3. D.N. Basu Shield Highest Point in First Aid 1981, 1982, 1983
4. J.N. Ghose Shield Highest Point in Drill and inspection 1982, 1983
5. Comme moretion Trophy Highest Point in Camp Craft 1982, 1983
6. Steta Bose Trophy Highest Point in Camp fire and chorus song 1982, 1983
7. Maimansing Cup Runners up 1981

It is an unique record of achievement in the history of 52 years of State Scout Competition.

Our Scout Group represented the West Bengal State in the year 1982 in All India Standard Judging Competition and won Pioneering and First-Aid Shield and secured standard 'A' in Signaling, Marching, Camp Fire and Camp craft. Our Group also represented W.B. State in all India Standard Judging in the year 1983 also.

40 Scouts and 5 Scouters from the Group Joined in 9th All India Jamboree held in Budh Gaya in 1983.

We observed Golden Jubilee in the year 1983 and platinum Jubilee in the year 1999 and 80th Foundations year celebration in the year 2003.

In the year 1991 and 1992 our group achieved championship trophy along with other 4 and 6 trophy respectively. Our group also represents West Bengal State in All India Standard Judicial Competition in the year 1992.

The success continued in 2000 era too. In the year 2003; 2004, 2005 group represented Second Calcutta Dist. Association in the State Competition and State Championship Trophy, N.N. Bhose trophy and D.N. Basu Shield in First Aid in the year 2003 and Runner-up.

In the year 2007 24 Scouts of Hindu School Scout Group participated in all India Centenary Jamboree held at Rajarhat Township an and from 1st January to 10th January 2007. At present strength of our member; Scouts 30 heads, Cubs 15 head and Rovers 10 head, seven scouts have been promoted to Rajya Puraskar Award the highest honor in scouting in State, Three number cubs qualified for State Chief Commissioner Award. We wish to remind our all the ex-members of the group that we are going to celebration 85th year of foundation celebration some times of 1st Week of January 2008 in befitting manner.
