Hindu School Kolkata Get Together 7th March,2009
It materialized. Our soul knew it would happen. We always believed in our passion about the school. At the nascent stage of our idea for arranging a tea party we were little apprehensive and nervous about the possible response. However, overwhelming response with the vive of passion swept away all the doubt. The magical memory of our school maintains the symphony among the alumni of various batches and age groups.

More than 300 ex-students gathered in the evening of 7th March, 2009 at Theosophical Society Hall. “Praktoni der Chayer Adda” was a grand success. We had to arrange additional chairs to make everybody comfortable. Mr. Deba Prasad Chakrabarti of 1964 HS batch and Mr. Debanjan Kar of 2008 HS batch stood together in the stage -hand in hand. Their voice echoed the feeling of everybody. We are confident to make a larger step from this success.
The week prior to 7th March was busy time for few of us; meetings at College Square or Coffee House, arranging for funds from personal contribution, festoons, food, decoration; it was full of fun and anxiety.

On the day, we gathered in the afternoon at 4 o’clock. We did not expect anyone before 6 – 6:30 as it might turn out to be just another get together with gathering of few. However, we were proved to be wrong when our first friend Mr. champak Bhattacharya of 1975 HS batch came around 5.15. Stage was still getting prepared. Mr. Biswa Brata Ganguly from 1964 HS batch joined us with his other class mates. Mr. Anirban Mukherjee from 1971 HS batch was next. Soon it became a tough yet pleasant task for our friends of 2005-06 batches to register everybody as alumni started turning up fast and in good numbers.

After a short welcome address by Mr. Anirban Bhattacharya (1994 HS) on behalf of Hindu School Web Team and Anuranan, Mr. Sabyasachi Nath (1981 HS) hosted the show. There was a Tea Break given soon. ‘Cha’ along with ‘Jhuribhaja’ and some free time was much needed by every one to be able to meet old friends after many years, to catch up with them and there was a loud cheerful ambience around the Hall, every where people welcoming others, trying to recognize, feeling nostalgic.

After the break, Mr. Champak Bhattacharya (1975 HS) and Mr. Suddhasatwa Chakraborty (2000 HS) took charge. Introduction between the batches started. People from different batches came to stage and conveyed their thoughts and feelings about the event and the future possibilities. Following persons came to stage to share their feelings.

Manas Badhyapadhyay, Deba Prasad Chakrabarti, Biswa Brata Ganguly, Prabir Kumar Basu, Atindra Mohan Mukherjee etc from 1964 HS; Anirban Mukherjee from 1971 HS; Champak Bhattachariya from 1975 HS; Santanu Moulik from 1987 HS; Rohit Khanna from 1994 HS; Subhankar Chowdhury from 1998 HS;Arijit Nag from 2000 HS;Nayan Basu from 2002 HS Saptarshi Ray from 2005 HS; Sougata Laha from 2006 Hs; Amartya Khan from 2007 HS; Debanjan Kar from 2008 HS.

Mr. Arijit Basu (1998 HS) talked about the website and about what we have achieved yet.

Mr. Kanchan Chakrabarty (1975 HS) from Bangalore Chapter connected us during the program over the phone and conveyed his valuable thoughts and congratulated the efforts in Kolkata. (Call to Kanchan Chakrabarty 1975 Hs (Bangalore Lead) - "Ami anek Hindu school dada bhai der awaz sunte pachi.amar dure thekeo mone hoche ami tomader sathe i achi.ami amar purono din guloy fire jete chaichi and miss korchi.")

Mr. Nandan Sengupta (1981 Hs Batch) Called from London during the event and talked about his feelings. (Call to Nandan Sengupta 1981 HS(London) - "Hello Ke ke ache re amader batch er?anek er golar awaz pachi.Khub bhalo lagche.ami school days miss korchi.Next time thaka r try korbo")

Snacks packets were served at one point. It was not possible to arrange a great menu with constrained budget. But no one there was outsider. It was our own school mates. By the time Nimki, Khasta Kachori, Kaju Barfi and Laddu with one more round of Tea was served, already an extended family has been formed there.

It was almost 8 o’clock in the evening. Several groups slowly started parting with a promise to come back in the next program. A group of around hundred people were there till the very end. They were very eager to get involved in some positive activities as Hindu School Ex-students, to make this common platform useful for the former students, existing students, teachers and society in general.

Every one agreed that there should be a two fold activity of this forum; one is to have this kind of get together in regular intervals to maintain the cohesiveness of the group, but the primary focus should be to use this network to serve our part as responsible ex-students of a great institution where India’s future is nurtured. It was agreed that we shall meet again soon to make a roadmap to achieve our dream. People wanted the meetings / get together in a regular interval (At least once in 6 months). Next big one proposed during Durga Puja Bijaya.

Every one agreed to work in personal level to increase the Network and strengthen the team.

Alumnus expressed their gratitude and respect to all beloved Teachers of Hindu School.

It was decided that batch wise database will be created and there will be leaders nominated from each batch. 2007/2008 batch already came up with there leaders.

That's how we finished up the day with the promise of a new beginning of a Long Journey.
