Annual athletic meet of Hindu School, Kolkata was held on January 27,2007 at the Presidency college ground with immense enthusiasm , interest and color. The participation and presence of students, teachers and parents were overwhelming. The event was presided over by Smt Mamta Roy (Chowdhury), principal of the Presidency College. The qualification round was held on 15th January,2007 on the same ground.

After the formal inauguration by Smt. Roy, the disciplined and colorful march past along with the torch-run by the young students was a treat to watch. In the oath-taking ceremony the student representative promised to obey the dignity and integrity of the games.

The action began with the 100m sprint for different groups followed by 200m, 400m and the much applauded and prestigious 1500m run. Ex-students participated in 100m sprint. The most exhilarating event of the day was the 4X100m relay race between ex-students and current students and it was won by the seniors. The spectators also enjoyed the events for teacher and other non-teaching staffs.

The prize distribution ceremony was started with the encouraging speech from the President of the event followed by the motivating advice from the chief guest of the day Mr. Kumaresh Bhawal, the distinguished national footballer. Respected retired teacher of the school Mr. Debabrta Roy was also present as special guest and he shared his affection for the students and imparted his blessings. It was an emotional moment for him and all the current and ex-students present.

The annual athletic meet was observed very enthusiastically and it was definitely a heartening site for the overall growth of students’ personality. However, school administration needs to work harder for better result and improved participation of school students in state and national level.
